Here is the info I have gathered to date on the T-40.

Please bear in mind that this is not to be considered gospel as it is nowhere near complete nor confirmed by Peavey.

This info was gathered over the course of the past few years from input from owners and by observation of T-40s on auction web sites and in music stores that I have visited. As Mike Frederick at the T-60 Mafia loves to say, "your mileage may vary".

Mine is serial 00464545. I bought it new in Edinburgh, Scotland in (thinks) '79. Toaster pickups - Black body maple neck. In my other hand I was looking at a Fender precision, but it just didn't seem serious enough for the job compared to the Peavey. Never entered my mind to keep it mint condition (this machine worked hard for a living).... but setup well and always maintained and cleaned properly by our backline tech. In those days it was new strings (Rotosound) every month or so, and it slept in a flight case with plenty of silicone to draw any humidity off. Still a working instrument after 32 years.

Hi ,this is my first post here, i want to present you guys a Peavey T-40 "8M" i just won on Ebay, First i wanted to ask you guys if this bass look correct for the period. I was told is a Pre-production model from 1978 with original case and user manual.
